Make the first cup your baseline

Begin with the leaf amount, water volume, temperature and time recommended by the seller. This baseline makes later differences easier to notice.

Change only temperature and compare

Use the same leaves and keep all other conditions constant. Note aroma, umami, astringency and the finish in a few words.

Observe carefully, even without a thermometer

A thermometer helps repeat results but is not essential. Choose an easy method, such as transferring hot water to another vessel to cool it.

The second infusion shows another face

For the second infusion, shorten the time as the leaves open. Each infusion offers another way to enjoy Japanese tea.

The suitable temperature depends on the tea, steaming, finishing and personal taste. Treat product guidance as a starting point, not a single correct answer.
